Mirror, Mirror

New technology offers interactive view.

Devices and beauty apps are all the rage right now in skin care—but this new technology has a unique approach. See Yourself in the best light with the new Sensor Mirror Pro ($250) from Simple Human, a brand big at outposts like Bed, Bath & Beyond. According to the company, it integrates a suite of connected platforms to give users a revolutionized beauty experience!

The voice command 8” round mirror has the ability to now connect the mirror to your homes WiFi.  Commands such as “mirror on”, “indoor lighting” or “overcast lighting” will activate the mirror to set the lighting to the presets you've installed. The sensor-activated mirror is a major upgrade from traditional vanity mirrors on the market.  Not only because of the smart home advantages but because they also offer two magnifications (5x and the 10x companion mirror – which can be magnetically stored behind the face of the mirror) as well as Simplehuman's patented “tru-lux” light system that mimics natural sunlight.  The mirror can reflect the lighting that will be present in different settings or surroundings. Just like you can capture specific lighting with your camera, the lighting is then translated to the mirror and the new integration allows it to be controlled seamlessly with your phone.

The mirrors have “adaptive sensing” as well, meaning that they light up when they sense you there and won't turn off unexpectedly. By simulating natural sunlight in up to 50,000 varying degrees, the lighted mirrors are made to show the smallest of variations in your make-up. These features make them great for contouring and other tricky applications and really help to avoid any regrettable surprises later on in pictures. Cordless and rechargeable, the mirror battery lasts up to four weeks on a full charge!
